InvoiceAdept vs QuickBooks: see the 2026 UK guide
By InvoiceAdept Editorial

This URL is InvoiceAdept’s older short comparison of InvoiceAdept and QuickBooks. The useful guidance has been consolidated into one complete, reviewed 2026 UK guide so readers do not have to compare two pages that answer the same question.
Read the current guide: InvoiceAdept vs QuickBooks UK (2026): invoicing or accounting?.
That guide covers what each product actually is (trade invoicing versus cloud accounting), side-by-side pricing checked against public UK list pages, CIS on the invoice versus CIS in the books, WhatsApp send and Stripe card links, deposits and VAT invoices, Making Tax Digital records versus HMRC filing, when using both tools together makes sense, and who should pick which. Keep it as the main reference rather than relying on the thinner stub that previously lived here.
The idea in one minute
Your accountant says QuickBooks. Your mate on WhatsApp says just send the invoice from the phone. Those are not the same shopping trip.
InvoiceAdept is invoicing software for UK trades: raise the invoice, send it (including WhatsApp on Pro), take a card payment via Stripe, keep a clean digital income record, and put CIS labour/materials on the invoice on Pro+. Plans: Free (five invoices a month), Pro £7.99, Pro+ £12.99 (excl. VAT). It does not send Making Tax Digital quarterly updates, VAT returns, CIS300 or Self Assessment to HMRC.
QuickBooks Online UK (Intuit) is accounting software. It invoices as well, but the reason accountants push it is the books, bank feeds and an HMRC filing path on the plans Intuit marks for Making Tax Digital for VAT and/or Income Tax. Public UK list prices and promos move — confirm the live figures for Sole Trader / Simple Start / Essentials / Plus / Advanced on quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/pricing/ before you budget. Do not treat third-party “price hike %†headlines as fact unless Intuit publishes the same numbers.
If you mainly need to bill from the van and get paid, shop for invoicing. If you (or your accountant) need one brand for the ledger and filing to HMRC, shop for accounting. Many tradespeople use both: InvoiceAdept for day-to-day invoices, QuickBooks for the books — without raising the same invoice twice.
Do | Avoid |
|---|---|
Read the full 2026 UK comparison before you change tools | Treating “invoicing†and “accounting + HMRC filing†as the same feature |
Confirm current QuickBooks.uk list and promo prices on Intuit’s own pricing page | Budgeting from an old “+47% hike†headline without checking a primary Intuit source |
Match the tool to the job: WhatsApp/CIS invoice vs full books and returns | Paying for a full accounting suite when you only needed van invoicing |
Export clean records to your accountant if they already live in QuickBooks | Raising the same job twice in two apps and calling it “integration†|

InvoiceAdept does not file VAT returns, Making Tax Digital updates, CIS300 or Self Assessment. The UK VAT registration threshold is £90,000 (the old £85,000 figure is stale — check GOV.UK). This page is practical product guidance, not tax or legal advice.

This consolidation notice was last reviewed on 10 September 2026. The canonical reference for this topic is the full 2026 guide linked above. This page remains at its existing slug invoiceadept-vs-quickbooks (live path /blog/comparison/invoiceadept-vs-quickbooks/) for readers and old links; no claim is made here that a technical 301 redirect is already in place. A proper HTTP redirect still needs a developer change if desired.
